DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION
(D.A.R.E.)

The D.A.R.E. Program is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.

Children are taught:

  • Self-awareness and management
  • Responsible decision making
  • Understanding others
  • Relationship and communication skills
  • Handling responsibilities and challenges

Our D.A.R.E Officer strives to create a positive learning experience in the classroom that not only provides valuable information, but also breaks down the barriers between young people and law enforcement. Activities both in and out of the classroom build teamwork and a sense of self-pride that stays with students throughout their lives.

Sheriff Clay Bennett strongly supports this program and believes it is very important to educate our children to the dangers of alcohol and drugs, along with other circumstances they will face in life. Sheriff Bennett understands our youth are our future and will do everything possible to ensure their safety.
